Rochester was a major way-station of the Underground Railroad and is the final resting place of Fredrick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony. Nearby vineyards reflect a rich viticultural tradition. This is where Jello was invented, Otis elevators were first made and the pressured municipal water supply and fire hydrants were invented.
